Instant Ponds - Introduction

Ever fancied a Koi pond? Many of us do, yet for one reason or another never get round to actually doing it. Maybe it's the thought of all that hard work, all that excavation, or simply that you have limited access to get a digger into the back garden. Maybe with our ever busier lifestyles, time for a full blown major project is just not an option.

Well, here is an affordable alternative to take away the headache out of all that planning and hard work. Our range of 'Instant Koi Ponds' could be the answer. These ponds, pre-formed in sectional galvanised steel complete with a choice of quality liners can be erected, sited, lined and filled with water in a matter of a days, not weeks or months.

Another suberb money saving feature is that you can dismantle (depending on choice of installation) and take them with you should you choose to move home.

These ponds come in various sizes and depths, from 9 feet (2.74m) up to 36 feet (10.98m) in diameter, holding a staggering 34,000 gallons.

Installation is quite straight forward, they can be sited above or below ground and are totally free standing. The depth of these tanks is 5ft, which many would argue is an ideal starting depth for a Koi pond. I personally would have the pond partially buried, leaving somewhere in the region of three feet above ground level. This has many advantages: less excavation (approximately 2 feet), the pond sides will help prevent debris from blowing into the water; this height also adds an element of safety where children and pets are concerned.

Every conventional pond building technique can be incorported into the application of these units. For example, bottom drains, low and high level multiple returns, can all be accomodated and are relatively quick and straight forward to install.

Installation:

The choice of installation is yours. As mentioned above, these units can be simply be assembled, placed on level ground on a circle of soft sand to protect the liner, and filled with water. Alternatively for those who would prefer a more permanent feature, as I would, excavate a hole to the required depth and either fully or partially bury the unit. I would also fit an aerated bottom drain, or drains depending on the size of the pond. There is also the option to stand the pond on a concrete base, having concreted in the bottom drain.

The outer circumference, for aesthetics, can be finished according to taste and budget. For a nice authentic Japanese look see our range of split Bamboo rolls. Cedar wood raised decking would provide a fantastic backdrop and also double up as a filter house. Alternatively, simply lay a ring of concrete and build a surround from brick or stonework. The options are endless!

These ponds are supplied in sectional Galvanised Steel for self assembly. We at Dankoi are here to offer any assistance and guidance that you may need with this, or any other project.
